My Fuerteventura

Fuerteventura. Fuerteventura was an unexpected surprise! In less than an afternoon I booked a Eurowing flight from Vienna for reaching there Sara, which was there for kiting and surfing. I have never taken a better decision, especially in winter!  Even though it is constantly windy (it is a beloved place by surfers) the winter temperatures are warm enough for enjoying the beach and swimming in the ocean.
Fuerteventura is the second largest of Spain’s Canary Islands, well known for the  multitude of long sandy beaches, interrupted by high jagged cliffs. I recommend the island, if you love to be embraced by wild nature and peaceful moments. Furthermore if you are like me, actually not a surfer, and you want to chill on the beach, I highly recommend you to stay in the north-west part of the island, precisely in El Cotillo (directly to the beach) or in Lasjares (in the hinterland, around 5km from the sea).
I booked an Airbnb accommodation in El Cotillo, where I found one of my highlights: Playa de la Concha, a quiet sandy bay, perfect for relaxing&swimming!  Then rent a car (essential for moving!) and explore the whole island! It has good routes and many landscapes: the brown and desert hinterland with agave trees and mills, the high cliffs, the southest lighthouse at Punta Jandia and the rugged&windy beaches in the southern part, like the breathtaking “Cofete“! A must to visit! (take with you a wind stopper jacket!) Last but not least, there is the warm and welcoming folks! In El Cotillo I would suggest you to eat at El Callao or at La Vaca Azul: delicious fresh homemade food and the famous canarian “papas arrugada”, wrinkled boiled potatoes, served with sea salt and the special canarian sauces “mojo picon” and “mojo cilantro”. So yummi & healty!
Hope you have found some good tips for visiting Fuerteventura!
