Koufonisia (Κουφονήσια) is a lovely little island of the Cyclades archipelago and part of the municipality Naxos.
As soon as you arrive, you will forget the frenetic pace you left behind. Take off your watch and disconnect your phone. You won’t need a car or a scooter because you will be able to walk to any of the beaches and stroll through the typical whitewashed alleys of the main town Chora. That is  a must especially at sunset! So, what more could you want?
In this post I wanted to share with you why I have fallen in love with the island, in my personal, let’s say, mini collection of postcards from Koufonisia, including some favourite spots and things to do.

HOW TO GET TO KOUFONISIA
The only possibility is by sea with ferries that connect the various islands of the Cyclades archipelago. For this reason the fastest way is to fly to Santorini or Athens and then to take the ferry. The ferry stops in other islands such as Naxos, Paros that could be interesting stops along the way.

WHERE TO EAT AND HAVE A COCKTAIL
Mylos all day bar, which probably is the best lounge spot and cocktails bar on the island! Stop there at Sunset and fully enjoy it!
Captain Nikolas Taverna a traditional tavern with the most beautiful and romantic view of the island.
Amira Kai Pioto  in the Chora combines the authentic atmosphere of a traditional tavern with the amazing selections of inspired delish plates.
Souvlaki Sti Strofi. If you are looking for authentic street food and less expensive alternative, in the Chora there is a fantastic take away with a couple of tables on the little street. Ale and I had pretty nice dinners while chatting with lot of people.

WHAT TO SEE AND DO
A daily boat trip to Kato Koufonisi is well worth.
Pori beach, Fanos Beach are a couple of small and amazing beaches along the east coast in direction to the biggest (and windy) beach of Platia Pounda.
Amnos beach, adjacent to the port and the town is also beautiful with the most crystal and turquoise sea of the island.
A visit to Galleria Spigolo, a lovely art and design boutique with pretty accessorizes, books and handmade designed pieces.
