My Copenhagen Food guide

where to eat in copenhagen

Cafes, bistros and restaurants take great care of the gastronomic offer, most of them paying attention to the ingredients and using local, organic or ethical products. Reading some guides, online researches and looking at the menus on site, I have the feeling that the Danes have refined tastes and are trying to make a difference, experimenting and mixing local traditions with new influences. So dive into Danish cuisine without hesitation! A truly Danish food experience is the Smørrebrød, spread bread served in different and creative ways that you can get for lunch or little break. And of course seafood!
Here below you find some places where to eat in Copenhagen, my spots selection you can’t miss!

Enjoy your dinner at “Oysters & Grill” It is a lovely place in Nørrebro, the Copenhagen’s hip and multi-cultural district with vibrant urban spaces, colorful facades and creative bar and restaurants. “Oysters & Grill” is one of them: a rustic seafood bar and restaurant with easy-going dress code and delicious food by Cofoco, the Copenhagen Food Consulting – known for its quality food at very reasonable prices for being in Copenhagen!
I think I found a little gastronomic paradise where enjoying delicious seafood as well as the best steaks. High recommend are their many kinds of oysters, clams, langoustines, calamari, ceviche, cooked in different ways. Try also the steak tartare or share their rib-eye. And if you are vegetarian, don’t worry, in the menu there are interesting offerings too.  A delightful place in every sense for having a great dinner!

Brunching at Far’s Dreng It is a little cute bistrot in the city center on two snug floors decorated with low-slung lamps, massive wood tables and white painted bricks walls. Main focus of the menu is  smørrebrod made using quality and organic ingredients. I have eaten the smoked salmon smørrebrod and it was simply delicious! Prices are reasonable with great value for money.

Stop at Cafe Atelier September Close to Strøget the main shopping street,  at Atelier September the little menu changes from day to day and is written out on an old style chalkboard. Their breakfast offers genuine simple dishes with influences from all over the world, like the panzanella or the Shakshuka. Good coffee and fresh juices complete the offer. Enjoy the time reading a fashion or design book you can find on the bookcase or just enjoy the furniture like if you were in a minimal hipster flat with vintage flair.

** Burger at Cock’s & Cows and you get 20% OFF with Copenhagen Card. Burgers are 100% Danish free-range beef, with organic lettuce and buns, thick slices of tomatoes, pickles, red onions and selected sauces. There is also a vegetarian options on menu! Always to appreciate! Their locations in town are 5: we’ve eaten in the Gammel Strand n.34 restaurant, the first one they opened in the city center, close to Nyhavn. It was the best burger I’ve ever had (including the U.S.): juicy meat with intense and recognizable flavor ingredients. we would have liked to return on the last day but we didn’t have enough time.. So sad!
